As part of its strategic efforts to help provide for the preparedness of the Australian Defence Force, Raytheon Australia launched its new Training Support Network at the company’s exhibition stand at Pacific 2010.

In announcing the Network, Raytheon Australia’s General Manager, Business Development, Mr Gerard Foley, hailed the initiative as an important new way for the ADF to enlist the capabilities of skilled Australian SMEs to help meet their training needs.

Raytheon Australia’s new Training Support Network will bring together Raytheon’s considerable training resource with the niche capabilities and expertise of Australian SMEs, who will act as members of the network

Mr Foley said “Raytheon has a great pedigree as a mission systems integrator for training and we provide full-spectrum training and support to government and military customers worldwide. In Australia our experience extends to the Hornet Aircrew Training System, our Electronic Warfare Training System and the AWD Training System. Our new Training Support Network will draw on this pedigree and complement it with particular capabilities offered by small business.”

Raytheon will act as the prime supplier ensuring accountability for the quality of the final training product. With Network members being chosen on the basis of Raytheon’s quality assured supply chain management process, this will demonstrate that these organisations not only meet Raytheon Australia’s requirements but the regulatory requirements of the ADF including those under its Defence Training Model.

Mr Foley also announced the newest member of the Raytheon Australia Training Support Network as Multimedia Concepts Pty Ltd (MMC). A small Australian company formed almost 20 years ago, MMC provides specialist digital multimedia development services to the ADF and other clients. MMC has produced over 1000 hours of highly interactive and engaging online learning, particularly to defence customers.

“Innovative and talented SMEs will be fundamental to the success of Raytheon Australia’s new Training Support Network. We are excited about this initiative and its potential to help meet the force preparedness objectives of the ADF,” Mr Foley said.
