At Raytheon’s opening event for Pacific 2010 International Maritime Conference, the President of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, Mr Dan Smith recognised the company’s depth of engineering expertise in Australia.
Mr Smith paid tribute to Raytheon Australia’s enterprise architecture capability that has taken years to develop and is unique in the Australian market. He also made a special presentation to the company’s newest Engineering Fellow, Michael Edwards.
Mr Smith said “As the company’s fourth engineering fellow in Australia, Michael Edwards joins a select group of less than one per cent of Raytheon engineers worldwide.”
Speaking of the Australian Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyer program, Mr Smith said “This program further demonstrates our strength as a mission systems integrator and our dedication to supporting engineers who can design, integrate, and evolve the architectures of highly complex systems and enterprises.”
Mr Smith and Raytheon Australia’s Managing Director, Mr Michael Ward also met with Australia’s Minister for Defence, Senator the Honourable John Faulkner, to discuss Australia’s current Defence programs and future requirements. Smith escorted Faulkner on a tour of the stand, which demonstrated a selection of Raytheon’s innovative Naval capabilities, including the company’s depth of expertise in systems integration, sensor and effector technology, mission support activities and increased focus on force preparedness.
