Raytheon Australia has recently submitted a bid to prime AIR 5431 Phase 1, which is the provision of a deployable Air Traffic Management and control system to Defence.

Local Mission Support

As the incumbent supplier of the Australian Defence Air Traffic System (ADATS), Raytheon has delivered a transportable capability (TASR), primary & secondary surveillance radars and an ATMS automation system to the Royal Australian Air Force. ADATS is integrated into a network of critical systems, including the civil aviation system, communications systems, remote sites, runway barriers, lighting and other airfield facilities, serving Australia’s military and civil aviation.

Raytheon Australia’s local, skilled workforce provides in-country support for ADATS system and is co-located with the customer, providing mission support to the program through a Follow on Support contract. The company has exceeded contracted and designed reliability and availability targets throughout the duration of the long-term support contract, managed locally.

Raytheon’s global and local pedigree and in-country expertise positions the company well to succeed on the AIR 5431 program, providing innovative solutions for all three phases of the program. The AIR 5431 program requirements include the acquisition of a transportable and deployable ATC capability, replacement of the existing sensor suite of primary and secondary surveillance radars and the ATMS automation including control towers.

Commercially, Raytheon is embedding new technologies that cope with a changing modern environment that enable interoperability and flexibility, allowing air traffic management to support both manned and unmanned aircraft. For the military, Raytheon's Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems allow aircraft to land on moving platforms such as aircraft carriers using enhanced GPS based technology.

The company is also partnering with Serco to compete for the opportunity to provide joint military air traffic system improvements, managed services and training to the Ministry of Defence through the U.K.-based Project Marshall.
