In an uncertain strategic environment, investing in an agile, adaptable, next-generation-technology-equipped defence force is the right choice.

In a recent speech, the Minister for Defence, the Hon. Kevin Andrews, MP, clearly identified the significance of emerging technologies that hold the potential to radically alter existing balances in military technology, including hypersonic missiles.

Mr Andrews said success in the future operating environment will depend on more than just high-end platforms.

“It’s the ability to integrate and share information between platforms and systems in a timely manner that will give the Australian Defence Force a distinct edge,” he said. "At the same time, we must recognise that our reliance on key enablers for modern operations is also a potential vulnerability that needs to be acknowledged and consciously managed.”

This management will be achieved by ensuring integration in mission, combat and weapons systems, enabling a distributed lethality capability on land, in the air and at sea to defeat the threat of missile attack.

Momentum looks at how Raytheon has created mission solutions which meet this need through proven products using innovative technologies.
