Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS)
The Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) is the Fire Support Command and Control (C2) system used by the Australian Army to provide automated support for planning, coordinating, controlling and executing fire missions.
AFATDS prioritises targets received from various sensors and performs attack analysis using situational data combined with a commander's guidance. The result is timely, accurate and coordinated fire support options to engage targets using Army and Joint weapon systems.
Benefits of Raytheon's AFATDS solution includes shortening the decision making cycle during operations and automated firepower allocations based on pre-planned and time sensitive targets.
AFATDS supports weapon systems such as mortars, field artillery and close air support. In the future it will connect to RAN ships to provide Naval Gun Fire Support and it is planned to be installed on LHD Canberra class amphibious ships to support operations.
AFATDS operates with all current and planned US fire support systems, as well as other Allies field artillery C2 systems including the United Kingdom's, the German and the French systems.
